Course Description

Allegations of unlawful sexual harassment or sexual misconduct present a unique challenge to IA investigators and administrators due to the extremely sensitive nature of these allegations and the possible ramifications if the allegations are sustained. Failures in thoroughly and fairly investigating these allegations are extremely costly in terms of public trust, legal liability, and officer morale.

In this webinar, Attorney Matt Dolan will provide the attendees with a fundamental understanding of the legal requirements regarding:

  • Creating and abiding by comprehensive harassment and misconduct policies
  • Effectively communicating policies to front-line supervisors and the rank-and-file
  • Investigating allegations in a manner that avoids possible retaliation against complainants
  • Conducting investigations that ensure the rights of accused officers are protected
